We recently moved Frogs Frills and Daffodils to a new home. More warehouse space, less travel, all the right causes.
But for some reason, the inventory racks that were perfectly acceptable in Anaheim are an issue in our new city. We needed a building permit to put them up, imagine! They wanted the assembly isntructions. Gosh. The manufacturer doesn't print assembly instructions, these things are easy enough for a 6 year old with Tinkertoy experience to assemble. Tools needed: hammer.
We needed an "engineering plan", so we drew one up on a single sheet of 8 1/2 X 11 copier paper. We were then charged $147 for one hour's plan review time, which took three weeks. One hour? For one sheet of paper? Piracy!
We still don't have a permit to occupy our facility, after being here almost two months. The inspector comes again tomorrow. I can't wait.
Why do local governments feel the need to harrass businesses?
